T.O.P. began as a result of the Lord speaking to a young minister named Nathaniel Raines and his wife Geraldine about beginning a ministry in the West End area of Birmingham in June 1984.
Growing up in one of the toughest areas of Birmingham, AL, he often had to be prepared for battle. After completing high school, he joined the United States Army. Pastor Raines was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division where he completed (NCO)Non-Commissioned Officer's School. The valuable experience of his past armed him with the tenacity to be a warrior in the Body of Christ.
Prior to becoming pastor of T.O.P. his leadership roles included Managerial positions with the Federal Government, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, Deacon, and Associate Minister, at Holy Temple of Jesus Church, where he later became a licensed Elder. His instructions under the Late Pastor G. Harris assisted in preparing him for his duties as a leader.
It became apparent that God was calling for a church to demonstrate ministry beyond the traditionally understood realm of local church operations. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, T.O.P. Faith Church was birthed as "A Place of Refuge" for the lost, the saved, the wounded and needy.
Since T.O.P.'s establishment, Pastor Raines has launched Men & Women Under Construction which promote adult growth in relationships and team building, and a Dance Ministry. He has also launched Community Outreach events, such as the Neighborhood Fun Day, Sadie's Closet, a Food Pantry and many other productive ministries.
He looks forward to the day of our Lordís return while working to make this earth a better place for our fellow man.
